Note:

I apologize for any poor English or writing. This comes directly from my prayer journal, and at 5am I am not always the best writer, nor do I catch all my mistakes. However, I think Mrs. Hausner, my highschool English teacher, would be glad that I am at least still writing.

Our Daily Bread

This morning as I was praying I just had this thought about the importance of feeding ourselves on the Word, daily and immediately I was reminded of the Israelites going out each morning and gathering manna!

Here are the verses where the Lord introduces manna - Exodus 16:11-18 NIV:

[11] "The Lord said to Moses, [12] “I have heard the grumbling of the Israelites. Tell them, 'At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.' ”

[13] That evening quail came and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. [14] When the dew was gone, thin flakes like frost on the ground appeared on the desert floor.

[15] When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was.

Moses said to them, “It is the bread the Lord has given you to eat. [16] This is what the Lord has commanded: 'Everyone is to gather as much as they need. Take an omer for each person you have in your tent.' ”

[17] The Israelites did as they were told; some gathered much, some little. [18] And when they measured it by the omer, the one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little. Everyone had gathered just as much as they needed."

What a great picture of what we are invited to do, to have daily interactions with the Lord, "The bread of Life"! (See John 6:48)  Lord, you desire to meet with us daily, to provide real food for our hearts, minds and spirits!  You desire to feed us!  Its enough for today, but tomorrow I need to do the same.

Secondly, this morning I was led to read from Isaiah 43:18-21NIV:

[18] “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.

[19] See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

[20] The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen,

[21] the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise."

We need food and water, and the Lord is about providing us exactly what we need!  Not only does He provide bread, but He provides springs of living water! (see John 4: 13-14) Let us turn to Him today, to feed us and quench our thirst!  Let us learn to seek His "Bread of Life" and "Living Water" every day!

Amen and Amen!
